Sinful Layer Chocolate Cake

Why go out and buy a chocolate cake when you can just make it at home.  This Sinful Layer Chocolate Cake is just that, sinful.  This cake is moist and delicious and perfect for any celebration.

Making a dinner for your significant other for Valentine's Day?  Why not bake this wonderful cake, they are going to be impress.  As you know Valentine's Day is all about chocolate and this cake is just perfect for the occasion.

Another reason to make this cake today is because today is National Chocolate Cake Day.

You can see the chocolate frosting in between the layers of cake.  The frosting is rich in chocolate flavor and really creamy. Forget about dieting for one day, this cake is worth it.

Get a decorating tip and a bag and decorate the cake anyway you want.  It doesn't have to be fancy.  You can also  use a colander and some cocoa powder and decorate the top of the cake.  Have fun with it, because the best part of all this is eating it!!

The frosting is so creamy and not extremely sweet.  I'm not sure how long this will last in my house.

Ingredients

2 tbsp white vinegar
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups water
2 tsp vanilla extract
2/3 cup vegetable oil
8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate baking bar broken into pieces-any brand you like
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda

Preheat oven to 350 Degrees F

Grease and flour two 9 inch round baking pans.  Line bottom with parchment paper.
Place chocolate in a microwave safe bowl.  Microwave at medium for about 1 1/2 minutes or until chocolate is melted after stirred.  Cool Slightly.

Stir together flour, sugar, baking soda and salt in large bowl.  Add melted chocolate, water, oil, vinegar and vanilla. Beat on medium speed of mixer until well blended.  Pour evenly into prepared pans.

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes in pan.  Remove and finish cooling on wire rack.

Chocolate Frosting Ingredients

3 1/2 confectioners' sugar
1 cup Hershey's cocoa powder
12 tbsp of butter (1 1/2 sticks) softened
1/2 cup milk, room temperature
2 tsp pure vanilla extract

Beat all ingredients in you mixer until smooth. Once cake has cooled completely, it's time to frost.  Place one cake on plate and cover the top with frosting, then place second cake on top and decorate top and sides.

Tip: This cake recipe does not contain eggs in the batter.
