Chocolate Covered Strawberries

These Chocolate Covered Strawberries are great for any special celebration.  Make these for your significant other on Valentine's Day, which is only a couple of days away.  Valentine's Day is all about love and chocolate.

Open up a bottle of dessert wine like a Moscato to go with the strawberries and enjoy.  I promise you, they will all be gone before you know it.

These delicious chocolate covered strawberries are so easy to make.  Why buy them when you can just make them in just minutes.

Make sure to buy fresh and firm strawberries.  If you can find the big ones with the stem still attached, that's even better.

When dipping the strawberries in the chocolate make sure to cover most of the strawberry.  At this point you can decorate the strawberries with chopped nuts, or sprinkles if you like.  You can also decorate them with white chocolate.

Ingredients

6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
1 pound strawberries, about 20 washed, dried very well

Place chocolate in a bowl set over (not in) a saucepan of simmering water.  Stir occasionally, until melted, 3 to 5 minutes.  Remove from heat.  Line a baking sheet with waxed paper.  One at a time, dip each strawberry in chocolate, swirling to coat; then place on waxed paper.  Chill chocolate-dipped strawberries at least 15 minutes to set chocolate.

Tip: Strawberries should not be stored in refrigerator longer than 1 hour as condensation drops may collect on the chocolate
